If you can't love yourself how the [heck] are you going to love anybody else? - Rupaul

Picture
In this life it's beautiful when we find someone who knows how to extend true love to us. Sometimes parents, sometimes friends. The least common of these, however, is the love we extend to ourselves.

Is love for one's self conditional? "When I'm skinnier." "When I have more friends." "When I have a significant other."

This seems wrong doesn't it. That's because it is.

So love for self should be unconditional. Cool. Got it. But that's easier said than done right?

Learn to meditate. Learn to be alone. Create affirmations for yourself. Say them to yourself in the mirror everyday. Actually say them. Take vitamins. Do a face mask. Garden. Build something. Create. Show yourself how wonderful you are and allow yourself to fall in love with yourself.

Come back and answer the questions below.

So let's say we love ourselves. Great! Should we then still strive to improve ourselves? Does improving myself mean I don't like myself as I am?

Standing with the great...

I'm not interested in whether or not you've stood with the great. I'm interested in whether or not you've sat with the broken.

Watch this video on
The Golden Circle.

Take a minute and think about where your headed and where you want to be 10 years from now. You may have lots of different goals or desires. Having a killer job. Being an expert in your field. Getting married and/or to be on Broadway!

Take a minute and think about the why of what you want and love to do. Why do you love it? Why do you love doing it? Who does your "why" serve?

Evaluate your why and when you feel confident, share it in the comments!

Love you guys!

So then does what you show, release you?
Should we show every part of who we are to everyone at all times?

Today in a school visit with a local high school, when asked what vulnerability is, one student replied that vulnerability is "weakness." I wanted to ask you all some questions. But first, some information!

vul·ner·a·bil·i·ty
noun
  1. the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.

Now, watch this video by Brené Brown and record your thoughts!

Vulnerability can feel and seem like weakness because it IS humble. But vulnerability really is power!  As a performer, it is our job to show up in vulnerability. To share raw(sometimes ugly) emotions. To give permission to those in your audience to be their authentic selves too! This is what will change your audience's lives.

Share an experience where you were vulnerable. Share how it was received. Share how that made you feel.

ALSO share your thoughts from the video!
